The Light Fund is the industry’s umbrella charitable body that raises funds for specific charity projects covering children, women and men.
The charity was set up in 2004 by Progressive Greetings’ joint managing directors Jakki Brown and Ian Hyder and some likeminded folk. Since its inception, it has now raised over £2 million for a great number of charities including The Children’s Trust, Kidscape, Teenage Cancer Trust Hospital, Multiple Sclerosis Resource Centre, Guide Dogs For The Blind, The Orchid Trust and Prostate Cancer Care.
Through various fundraising efforts – from raffles at Max Publishing awards events, quiz nights, treasure hunts, product sell-offs and individual’s private fundraising efforts – £thousands are raised for good causes. Everyone on The Light Fund committee gives their time for nothing and there are no admin charges – meaning all the money we raise goes directly to the causes.
Charities are invited to submit applications for funding online via The Light Fund website. At the end of each year, each member of The Light Fund committee consider each and every charity project submissions received and vote independently on the top projects (in order of priority) they feel have the most merit in funding. These votes are then correlated with the charity projects, with the highest number of votes receiving the funding.
Commenting, Jakki Brown, co-founder of The Light Fund and editorial director of Progressive Greetings said: “It is fantastic that, through the collective generosity of those in the industry, we are able to achieve so much for those less fortunate than ourselves through The Light Fund.” For more details visit the Light Fund website.
We’re sorry, but the submission period for the 2020 Hall of Fame nominations has closed.
